Abstract

As it is happening in other areas, the arrival of social networks and the new tools of the so called Web 2.0, with great capacity for sharing and disseminating information are calling into question the essential aspects of science such as measurement. A few years ago the influence of an investigation was measured through the impact of the publication in which it was framed and citations received by it, it is currently envisaged that this form of evaluation is not sufficiently complete if it does not have into account the influence that social media research. This is been called Altmetrics or alternative metrics, it does not come to exclude, if not complement the measurement of classical Biliometrics. This article describes a study of what Altmetrics is, its features, tools, and how the professional information may contribute to the re vitalization, identity and visibility of your organization through transversal training and the integration of research teams in your institutions.
