Analysis of models of information behavior from a socio-psychological approach

The purpose of this research is to perform a critical socio-psychological and informational analysis of theoretical models with paradigmatic conceptual contributions related to information behavior, taking into account their original contexts. As results are reformulated to explain the reasons, determinants and components of the activity or information behavior, traits of Socio-Psychological Approach to Information-Library Service and the Model GIRLFRIEND (1984-2015) and its graphical expression is shown. They are analyzed from these fundamentals, models T. D. Wilson (1981, 1996, 2000, 2006) with model elements Ellis (1989); Making Sense of Brenda Dervin; Search Process Information, Kuhlthau Carol (1991); Uribe’s model (2008), and the model Livia Reyes (2013). Conclusions are presented on the current convergence theoretical and methodological and terminological between concepts behavior and activity, and also between their human and informational dimensions; on the dialectical unity between the environmental context, needs-motives, and behavior among the stakeholders of individual-group communication and institutional-professional (services), including the informative, communicative and educational nature of the information behavior towards Management knowledge and Learning. Throughout the report, highlighting the main contributions of each model analyzed and specific differences between them and the theoretical and methodological pattern of the authors of this article, and even some interrelationships between models always considering the context.Downloads
