Abstract

The National Library of Cuba José Martí (BNCJM Spanish abbreviation) as rector of the National System of Public Libraries (SNBP Spanish abbreviation) and the performance of its activities supports the use of information is a major venture into the new world of librarianship. One of the ways the BNCJM to improve the organization is by providing access to its collections, streamline work and reduce costs in purchasing materials with the implementation of an automated system that would integrate all data processed in the institution. As part of this strategic plan a study of the processes carried out in the library and began working on the development of a Web application that can manage the entire workflow of BNCJM was performed. The experiences gained in the project, will guide the implementation of the SNBP SIGBs and in all institutions in process automation.
