Abstract

In order to diagnose the state of the process of evaluation of the scientific information activity (ACI, Spanish abbreviation) at medical libraries in the province of Camagüey, both regulations that govern its performance in the health sector, as materials issued by national and international bodies, were analyzed. In addition, the Responsible for Methodological Service to the Network of the Provincial Information Center of Medical Sciences was interviewed; and a group of librarians were surveyed. The results show that the process as such is not of excellence. It was verified the lack of a methodological document to control it at the provincial level. The indicators system employed is not exhaustive. It is recommended the preparation of a methodology that defines not only the logical actions to follow during a process of evaluation of this kind, but also a system of indicators characterized by exhaustiveness.
