Keywords:

This study aimed to analyze the relationship of the formationand development of the public library with the political, economic, social
and cultural development of the central region, specifically in Sancti Spiritus, and also to examine the peculiarities of the selected analytical categories: collections, subject librarian and user subject, both in the initial
stage of its organization and development. We used historical and logical
methods, inductive-deductive, analytic-synthetic and content analysis for
the interpretation of the data, explaining relationships and ratings that
are considered relevant. In this work we systematize regularities of the
formation and organization of the public library in Sancti Spiritus in the
Republican period, and the stage of development after the Revolution,
until 1989, a period in which the largest number of libraries were created
in this municipality and the National and Provincial Coordination Libraries
developed a significant work. The results of this research are part of the
20th century, and in terms of development that gradually progressed to
selected categories of analysis.
