Software tools for quantitative information analysis. Preliminary study of applications developed in Cuba

Abstract

In the globalized world of today, voluminous amounts of information are produced daily, which must be processed and analyzed for the strategic guidance of organizations. This process needs to be based on the use of software which help its automation; that’s why its development has become an indispensable requirement for converting organizations' internal and external information into useful knowledge for decision making. The high price of commercial tools for quantitative analysis of external information coming from databases becomes the fundamental reason that developing countries and organizations with few resources look for their own methodologies, procedures and solutions which allow them to minimize manual work and support automated and specialized techniques in the processing of this type of information.
