Bibliometric study on intelligent processes in manufacturing in the SCOPUS database

Authors

Keywords:

Intelligent processes; Manufacturing; Processes

Abstract

Objective: to characterize the scientific production in the Scopus database on intelligent processes in manufacturing. Methodology: exploratory-descriptive study, time frame: 1982-2023. Study units: original materials published in Scopus as a result of the selected search string. R was used for bibliometric indicator analysis, Microsoft Excel 2003 only to organize and verify the information, and VOSviewer for keyword mapping. Results and Discussion: Scientific production in the field shows a growing trend over the period analyzed, with a predominance of publications in English and Chinese. Research was mainly conducted in China and the United States. The 6 most productive authors published at least 4 documents each. Reference co-citation analysis revealed 2 main clusters: strategic technology management, and sensors and technologies for measuring and detecting physical variables. Keyword co-occurrence was analyzed for terms appearing in at least 10 documents. The 10 most frequently used keywords and their use over time were identified. Conclusions: there is a growing interest in intelligent processes in manufacturing, reflected in the increase in publications in recent years. Prominent research areas include process optimization and intelligent automation. The study is limited by the exclusive use of Scopus and by the lexical delimitation adopted in the search strategy. Originality/Value: understanding trends in the field allows researchers to stay updated on recent advancements and identify gaps in existing knowledge
